So that one lady gets dragged into the hole with the little nommy monsters and the little girl and her father leaves. Basically, the lady becomes one of them because they need to grow in numbers and sustain their colony. They then wait for another ‘victim’ to come to the house so they can once again feed and add more members to their colony.
